The ATR-42-500 aircraft of the (PIA) Pakistan International Airlines skid off the runway while it was carrying 42 passengers and 4 crew members from (flight PK-653) Islamabad to Lahore (Pakistan). None of the crew and passengers were seriously injured but ATR-42 sustained substantial damage.

Army Chief General Kayani in Gilgit Baltistan on Eid Day

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, visited forward locations in Gilgit Baltistan, today, to celebrate Eid with troops. COAS visited Gayari to meet troops committed in the recovery operation. 

The operation started as a relief and rescue effort, immediately after the disastrous avalanche that caused Shahadat of 140 soldiers and civilians. It has continued without any let off for the last four and a half months despite severe terrain and climatic conditions. 

COAS lauded the perseverance and motivation of troops involved in the rescue effort which has resulted in the recovery of 79 bodies to date. Given the pace of recovery effort, it is hoped that before onset of the winters all the bodies would have been recovered. 

Later, COAS visited Hamzigund, where he interacted with troops deployed along the Line of Control. He appreciated the soldiers for their resolve, determination and devotion to duty.Commander Rawalpindi Corps, Lieutenant General Khalid Nawaz Khan, accompanied COAS during the visit.

The Pakistani Saab-2000 AEW&C uses of new generation radar transmit/receive modules which generate around 60% extra output. 


Higher operating ceiling of 9,150 m and increased radar output allows Pakistani Erieye AEW&C to detect both air and maritime targets much longer ranges then the first and second generation Erieye systems.

The Pakistan Navy’s 2nd PNS Azmat Fast Attack Missile Craft (FAMC) of the PNS Azmat class was launched yesterday during a ceremony at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW).

New Fast Attack Missile Craft, named PNS Dehshat was produced by the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) under the Transfer of Technology agreement from China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company (CSOC). and Xingang Shipyard.

 Pakistan navy inducted 1st Fast Attack Missile Craft of this class named PNS Azmat in its naval fleet in June 2012.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Asif Sandila, has termed the production the Fast Attack Missile Craft at Karachi Shipyard as an another example of “unparalleled” Sino-Pak relations.

  • Pakistan Air Force (PAF) used one of its C-130 transport aircraft equipped with the FLIR Systems Star Safire III EO/IR sensor ball to track the movement of terrorists.

  • Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafiq Butt has called in the meeting of the senior staff of the PAF to assess the situation and is likely to meet the army and naval chiefs later today.
  • Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafiq Butt has ordered investigation of the terrorist attack on PAF base.

  • One member of the security force of the Pakistan Air Force have embraced Shahadat during the operation against the terrorists as per PAF spokesperson.
  • Terrorists were using Ak-47 Kalashnikov assault rifles, hand grenades and other weapons.
  • Chinese engineers were present at the PAF Minhas Airbase / Kamra Air Base.
  • All seven terrorists involved in the attack has been killed by the Pakistani security forces headed by the Special Operations Force of the Pakistan Air Force, Special Service Wing (SSW).
  • One of the dead terrorist is believed to be a foreigner.
  • None of the aircraft was damaged during the attack by the terrorists (this news has been contradicted by the PAF spokesperson and it has been confirmed that one aircraft was damaged in RPG attack by the terrorists)
  • Earlier its was reported that all aircrafts are safe but PAF spokesperson has said that one of the aircraft of Pakistan Air Force was damaged in RPG attack by the terrorists. It is yet not clear if damaged aircraft was IL-78P Mulit Role Tanker or C-130 Transport aircraft.
  • RPG was fired from outside the airbase.
  • Base commander of the PAF Minhas Airbase / Kamra Air Base Air Commodore Azam Mahmood was injured when he visited the frontline of the operation.

  • Metting headed by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafiq Butt and attended by the senior PAF officials have just ended.

    • Pakistan Rangers and FC has been ordered to move in to help the security force of the Pakistan Air Force at the air base.
    • Terrorists are using automatic weapons and hand grenades.
    • Terrorists have been stopped and security forces are trying to contain the situation and Pakistan Army has been called in to help PAF airbase security force.
    • Terrorist may be using uniforms of the PAF airbase security, but this remains unconfirmed.
    • FIA forensic teams has also been dispatched to the airbase to collect the evidence.

    • Anti-Terror unit of Pakistan Police and Paramilitary forces have deployed at the outer parameter of the airbase.

    • Operation against the terrorist is being conducted by the Special Operations Force of the Pakistan Air Force, Special Service Wing (SSW).

      Pakistani News Channels are reporting that PAF Minhas Airbase / Kamra Air Base has come under attack from a terrorist group and exchange of firing started at around 2:30 and is continuing till 4:00 AM.

      Terrorists are using automatic rifles and hand grenades against the security forces. Pakistan Army is also sending its rescue and Special Operation Force teams are towards the base.

      Terrorists have been stopped at their current position and security forces are fighting had to subdue them. Unconfirmed news suggest that terrorists are wearing the uniforms of the Pakistan Air Force.

      Over 30 aircrafts including JF-17 Thunder fighter jets are present at the airbase.

      The Tribune Newspaper had already reported few days back that according to intelligence reports of the Home Department, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is planning attacks on the PAF Air Base and other military facilities .

      This is the third attack on the PAF Minhas Airbase / Kamra Air Base by the terrorists.

        A Mirage-V fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force has crashed during a routine operational training mission in Bhakkar, Punjab.

        Fighter pilot of the Mirage fighter jet was able to eject safely from his aircraft and so far there is no reports of any loss of civilian life or property on ground.

        Pakistan Air Force is looking to replace its aged Mirage fighter jets with JF-17 Thunder fighter jets.

        COAS General Kayani Attends War Games of Gujranwala Corps

        Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Gujranwala, last night, to attend the concluding session of Gujranwala Corps War Games. The War Games being conducted at various Corps Headquarters are part of the Azm-e-Nau series exercises. 

        This year’s Azm-e-Nau series started with the Central Command War Games in May, which comprised multiple planning and conduct sessions attended by senior Army and PAF officers. The process will continue, at other Command and Corps Headquarters, to review and validate operational plans in the light of current threat spectrum. 

         Later, COAS visited Army Marksmen Unit at Jhelum, a newly raised organization aimed at ensuring that basic shooting skills in the Army are not only maintained, but improved in a scientific and progressive manner. Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif, Commander Gujranwala Corps.

        Pakistani Mushak Traning Aircraft Crash Lands

        A Mushak training aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed in Trangzai area of Charsadda District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday. 

         The Mushak aircraft was partially damaged while making the emergency landing, however, the trainee pilot and instructors remained safe, the PAF officials added.

         The air force’s spokesman in a statement said that the aircraft made emergency landing due to some technical fault and both the pilots remained safe. Police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area
