Pakistan, today conducted a successful Flight Test of the indigenously developed Air Launched Cruise Missile, Hatf-VIII (Ra’ad). The Ra’ad Missile, with a range of over 350 KM, enables Pakistan to achieve strategic standoff capability on land and at Sea.

‘Cruise Technology’ is extremely complex and has been developed by only a few countries in the world. The state of the art Ra’ad Cruise Missile with Stealth Capabilities is a Low Altitude, Terrain Hugging Missile with high maneuverability, and can deliver nuclear and conventional warheads with pin point accuracy. 

A major additional feature of today’s test was the effective employment of the National Command Authority’s fully automated Strategic Command and Control Support System (SCCSS). It has enabled robust Command and Control capability of all strategic assets with round the clock situational awareness in a digitized network centric environment to decision makers at National Command Centre (NCC). 

The system has the added capability of real time remote monitoring of missile flight path. The successful launch has been commended by the President, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee who have congratulated the scientists and engineers on their outstanding achievement.

The Multi-Tube Hatf IX Nasr has a range of 60km Surface-to-Surface Range and is reportedly capable of carrying nuclear warheads upto 50kg. The test was conducted in connection with Pakistan's 14th anniversary as nuclear power (May 28 atomic blasts), officials said. Earlier on April 25th, Pakistan had test-fired MRBM Shaheen I-A, the upgraded version of Shaheen-I followed by the test-launch of SRBM Ghaznavi-I on May 10th. 

 An official statement says, Nasr can ‘carry nuclear warheads of appropriate yield, with high accuracy and possesses shoot and scoot attributes. This quick response system addresses the need to deter evolving threats, specially at shorter ranges’. Reportedly, the next test-exercise of MRBMs would start in July this year. Official sources say, Nasr’s ‘impact time’ (the amount of time it takes to hit the target after setting off from launching pad) is 1.5 to three minutes, which according to officials, is the shortest impact time of any Pakistani SRBM. 

The Monday test, reportedly carried out in Somiani near Karachi, was witnessed by Director General NDC Anwaar Muzaffar, DG SPD Lieutenant General (Retd) Khalid Kidwai, DG Army Strategic Force Command (ASFC) Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani and Chairman National Scientific and Engineering Commission (NESCOM) Irfan Burni. A statement quoted Kidwai as terming the Nasr missile as a ‘weapon of peace’, stating that the test was a major development which would consolidate Pakistan's deterrence capability at ‘all levels of the threat spectrum, thereby ensuring peace in the region’.

An aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) caught fire in Samungli Airbase on Tuesday. According to official sources, the aircraft was being repaired at the airbase when it caught fire with a huge blast. Firefighters, however, put out the fire. 

Sources said that due to the fire the aircraft was badly damaged while three personnel of PAF identified as Rizwan, Ansar and Kashif received minor burn injuries.

 "Two blasts occurred soon after the aircraft caught fire," sources said, adding that the F-7 aircraft was being repaired when the incident occurred. Later, a technical team examined the plane to determine the cause of fire.

Pakistan naval warship PNS Azmat Fast Attack Missile Craft (FAMC) has arrived at the Port on Colombo on 28th May 2012 and it was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy. 

The Pakistani PNS Azmat Fast Attack Missile Craft (FAMC) is commanded by Commander Ahmed Hussain. The PNS Azmat Fast Attack Missile Craft (FAMC)is 63 meters long and has a full displacement of 631 tons. The ship's complement consists of 77 naval personnel.

 Commanding Officer of the Escort Division Five and the Commanding Officers of the ships paid courtesy calls on the Commander Western Naval Area Rear Admiral DS Udawatta. They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos as a gesture of goodwill.

 Pakistan naval ship is due to depart on 31st of May, 2012.The crews are scheduled to take part in a series of programmer organized by the Sri Lanka Navy to strengthen the cordial relations among the friendly navies.

Pakistan Navy’s newly commissioned fast attack craft, PNS Azmat, has left the Sebang Naval base, Indonesia, the embassy has said.

 The craft started its voyage home from China in April and passing through different countries including Malaysia and Indonesia, the warship will reach Pakistan shortly.PNS Azmat is the first of Azmat class fast attack craft (missile).

 The vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, including surface-to-surface missiles and has stealth features. Defence Attache, Pakistan Embassy, Indonesia, Col Umer, Base Commander, Sebang, Col Dodi and other Indonesian Naval Officers, welcomed the craft being led by Commander Ahmad Hussain. The welcoming ceremony featured a tradtional dance performance. 

Both sides regarded anchroing of PNS Azmat at Sebang as another chapter in the history of friendly exchanges between the two countries.

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila today inaugurated the newly constructed Headquarters of the Naval Strategic Force Command (NSFC). Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai Director General Strategic Plans Division and other senior ranking Naval and Military officers were also present on the occasion.

Two Mushshak basic trainer aircrafts of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) collided mid-air northwest of Islamabad, resulting in the death of four pilots. Both aircrafts were on a routine training mission.


District police officer Mohammad Hussain said. “One of the aircraft crashed over a house, injuring a girl and an elderly man, and the second plane crashed in the fields” in the Rashkai area.

Pakistani Fast Attack Missile Craft (FAMC) PNS Azmat  is scheduled to visit Kuantan, Malaysia from 16 May to 19 May 2012. PNS AZMAT is equipped with long range antiship missiles and close-in weapon system (CIWS).

Pakistani Defence Advisor in Malaysia Commodore Zahid Akram has said that PNS Azmat has full complemet of sensors and weapons to counter challenges faced by Pakistan Navy at sea.

Pakistan on Thursday, May 10, 2012 conducted a successful training launch of Short Range Ballistic Missile Hatf III (Ghaznavi), which can carry nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 290 kilometers. The launch was conducted at the conclusion of the annual field training exercise of Army Strategic Force Command.

 The exercise was aimed at testing the operational readiness of a Strategic Missile Group. The field exercise of the ASFC was witnessed by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), Commander Army Strategic Force Command Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, Commander Karachi Corps Lieutenant General Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry, Chairman NESCOM Mr Muhammad Irfan Burney, and other senior military officials and scientists.

 Addressing the troops in the exercise area, the CJCSC commended the troops on displaying a high standard of proficiency in handling and operating the state of the art weapon system. He said that the nation had developed a strong nuclear deterrence capability and expected that the officers and men entrusted with the task of deterring aggression would continue to train hard and maintain professional excellence.

 He said that Pakistan’s Armed Forces were fully capable of safeguarding Pakistan’s security against aggression. The successful test has also been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, who have congratulated the participating ASFC troops, the scientists and the engineers on their outstanding success. Mirage-V fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has crashed while on a routine operational training mission near Karachi. PAF's Mirage V took of from the PAF Base Masroor on training mission and crashed soon after take off.

According to the local media reports fighter pilot of the Mirage V fighter jet was able to safely eject from his aircraft and no loss of civilian life or property was reported on ground.

 Pakistan Air Force has ordered a detailed inquiry to determine the cause of accident.
