Asad Umar (born 1961) is a Pakistani lawmaker and former business administrator . He served as CEO and President of Engro Corporation for 8 years during a 27-year career with the company.[1] He resigned from his post at Engro and Joined Imran Khan led political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on April 2012.[2]

Umar’s 27-year career at Engro began in 1985, when the company was still a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, the global oil giant.[1] He joined the company as a business analyst, and was working for it abroad in Canada when the famous management buyout of Engro took place in 1991. Umar came back to Pakistan and in 1997 was appointed the first CEO of Engro Polymer & Chemicals, the group’s petrochemical arm. Later on, he was elected as the President and CEO of Engro Corporation in January 2004 and transformed the business from a mere chemical company to a giant conglomerate. It was his idea to diversify into dairy and food business and today 'Engro Foods' stand as the highest profit producing subsidiary of Engro Corporation. It was in his tenure when Engro became the first Pakistani company to buy a business entity abroad when the company earlier in 2012 bought Canadian based food company 'Al Safa Halal'.

Umar has been quoted about his first salary as saying, “I still remember the exact figure of my first salary: Rs 3,200 per month. He confirmed this in Waqt News Program and He was working in HSBC Bank at that time. My boss at the time said ‘Well, frankly they are paying you too much.” At the time he left the company, he was the CEO in the company who received Rs 7.0 million monthly as salary, in addition to which he was also paid from company stocks and owns about 2 million shares of the corporation.[3]

Asad Umar resigned as CEO of Engro Corporation on 19 April 2012 and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. At PTI, he will be part of committee to work on a draft paper to suggest economic reforms to take Pakistan out of current financial crisis. Asad Umar was appointed Central Senior Vice President of PTI on 21 April 2012.[4] He is the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) fromConstituency NA-48 Islamabad in the upcoming July by-elections after the seat was vacated by PTI central president Javed Hashmi. Hashmi had won by scoring over 70,000 votes compared to 50,000 gained by the runner up. Asad Umar won the re-elections held on 22 August 2013 from NA-48 at the seat vacated by Hashmi. He secured 48,072 votes.

The plan to oust the PML-N led government and topple Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from power is reaching critical mass. The last 48 hours saw the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) anti-government protests morph Islamabad's Red Zone from a concert ground to a bloody battlefield, with at least three people killed and hundreds injured. The deadly confrontation shows little signs of letting up, as both Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri have encouraged their supporters to battle on, while negotiations with the government appear to be going nowhere - despite the Pakistan Army playing the role of 'mediator'.

Javed Hashmi said he was ashamed and said he was sure Imran was too. "Now I'm going to say something and maybe Imran will refute that as well but it would be good if he didn't.""Imran had told the core committee it won't be called a martial law...we will file a petition in the Supreme Court and get a judge of our choosing...and he will say okay...we didn't talk about Bangladesh...that CJ will validate the actions that will be taken eventually...today I have heard that CJ has called all judges...Justice Jilani will retire and the current CJ will become chief justice...and they will get rid [of the government]".

Muhammad Javed Hashmi  b. January 1, 1948), is a senior conservative figure, political scientist and geostrategist who presides over the Pakistan Movement for Justice (PTI) which is led by sportsman-turned politician Imran Khan. He was elected to the post of Central President on March 2013 by the electoral college of the party.

Originally a leading and senior member of Pakistan Muslim League, Hashmi served twice in federal cabinet first as the Federal Ministry of Health and as the Federal Ministry of Youth Affairs in both first and second government of former Prime minister Nawaz Sharif. After being dismissed in 1999 in a coup d'état staged by General Pervez Musharraf against Nawaz Sharif, Hashmi was appointed central president of the Pakistan Muslim League and led the League in the controversial 2002 general elections, which saw the landslide defeat of the League. In 2003, Hashmi was arrested and faced a trial on charges of treason in the Central Jail Rawalpindi after making controversial statements against Pakistan Armed Forces, and was released on 4 August 2007.[1]

In the 2008 elections, Hashmi won a record three seats out of the four contested; he only lost out to Shah Mehmood Qureshi in his home city of Multan. Hashmi won National Assembly seats from Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi beating PML-Q leader Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad in the latter one.[2] On 20 July 2010 Hashmi suffered from Brain hemorrhage and was admitted to hospital. After recovering, he served as the Chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and but resigned after falling out with Nawaz Sharif on various political issues. He would later ascended to join the Pakistan Movement for Justice led by Imran Khan as the party president. In 2013 elections Hashmi won from both two constituency's he contested from in Islamabad and in Multan from the platform of PTI.[3]

An agriculturist by profession, Hashmi attended Punjab University where he was part of the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami and was once accused of murder of a fellow student but was ruled not guilty by court. He took his B.Sc. in Political Science in 1969, followed byM.Sc. in 1971, and M.Phil. in 1973, in the same academic discipline from the same institution. The then Prime Minister Z.A Bhutto offered him to be High Commissioner of Pakistan in United Kingdom(UK)and in return give up agitation against the ruling PPP but he did not budge from his stance.[4] He turned to politics in 1985 and joined hands with Nawaz Sharif — who later became Prime minister.[4] From 1985 till 1988, he was elected to the National Assembly for the terms of 1985 till 1988.[4] From 1990 till 1993, Hashmi was the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and elected as Parliamentarian for the terms of 1993–1997.[4] From 1997–1999, he served as Federal Minister for Health in Nawaz Sharif's cabinet during his second term. He was alleged for being involved in Mehran Bank Scandal along with other political heavyweights like Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and few more main stream politicians of that time. Allegations on Makhdoom Javed Hashmi were laid by Yousaf Advocate who had an old business conflict with Hashmi family, he alleged Hashmi's involvement in the scandal but Younas Habib who was the main character and distributed all the funds never alleged Makhdoom Javed Hashmi. Makhdoom Javed Hashmi very strongly rejected the allegations and demanded a judicial probe of the scandal involving all the top political leadership of that time. During Musharraf era,PML(Q) was in dire need of MNAs to form a coalition government, so their delegation led by Ch. shujaat went on to see him and offered him to be part of PML(Q)but Hashmi Refused to support Pervez Musharraf. For this act he had to suffer the wrath of the then president Gen. Musharraf and he remained behind the bars for 5 years. During prison days he wrote two books about his political struggle which are named as "HAAN MEIN BAGHI HUN"(yes,I am a rebel)& "TAKHTAEY E DAAR K SAAEY TALAY". .He served in united nations for some times as well.[4] These days he is serving as President Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf. Hashmi is one of the politicians in Pakistan who have never lost in an elections.

Rustam Shah Mohmand is senior Pakistani diplomat, political scientist and a politician who specialises in Afghanistan and Central Asian affairs. He has served as Pakistan's Ambassador to Afghanistan, Interior Secretary of Pakistan and has held position of Chief Commissioner Refugees for around ten years. He is also the central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisory committee headed by Imran Khan which advises the provincial government on development and planning.^{[1] [2]} He graduated in civil engineering and humanities and then joined the civil service of Pakistan.^[3][4][5]
